Niger State governor, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu has said that the North cannot be deceived by those mouthing the change slogan because they are only seeking power for revenge.
Speaking at a lecture to mark the 40th birthday of Niger State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Umar Mohammed Nasko, Aliyu said that some people were seeking power to avenge what they felt was done against them in the past.
He said: “You don’t look for change for revenge; Nigerians should look beyond sentiment and vote realistically”.
According to the governor, both PDP and APC have Muslims and Christians as flag bearers, adding that using religion to win election will be an effort in futility.
He said: “Revenge is unIslamic and unchristian; anybody seeking power for revenge cannot claim to be a true believer”.
Aliyu contended that the north can no longer be deceived by those using religion, adding that he is happy that the slogan of change cannot be used to deceive the north. He said the opposition has always been critical of his programme especially the three arm zones.
He said if the oppositions were blind to his achievement, they should at least acknowledge the ongoing development at the three arm zones.
