Buhari is the Mandela of our time – Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, has likened the presidential standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) to the late South African freedom fighter, Nelson Mandela.

According to him, Buhari remained the only person who can perfectly steer and stabilise the sinking ship of the country.

Okorocha gave took the position while addressing Imo State indigenes who gathered on the banner of Imo State Towns Development Association Lagos (ISTDAL) at a colourful reception for him at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, on Monday.

He noted that at 72, the only desire of Gen. Buhari was to trash the rot in the polity and move on.

The governor, who addressed the gathering in Igbo language, said if the South-East region wanted to produce Nigeria’s president in no distant time, they must elect Buhari.

Hear him, “Buhari is the Mandela of our time. At 72, what does he want? He will do one term, fix the country and move on and then power will come back to the South. When power rotates to the South, the South-East will have it in 2019 because the South-West has had it through Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and the South-South through Dr Goodluck Jonathan.’’

According to him, ‘’under President Jonathan’s administration, the South-East is not among the five topmost positions in the country (President, Vice President, Senate President, Chief Justice of the Federation, Speaker of the House of Representatives), does not have any of the service chiefs, Inspector General of Police, Comptroller of Customs, Immigration, Civil Defence, etc. We only have comptroller of Prisons. This is not fair”
